The University of Makeni invites students and members of local communities to engage in the Student-Led Community Learning and Service Initiative for Sustainable Development, a student residence programme.
The programme engages university students in addressing identified community needs through structured learning, service, and reflection. Students live and work alongside host communities to jointly design and implement solutions that respond to local priorities.
The initiative integrates academic learning with real-world application, enabling students to develop practical skills, civic responsibility, and leadership while contributing to sustainable community development.

The programme aims to strengthen community development and generate positive social impact, enhance students’ practical skills, civic responsibility, and leadership, and foster sustainable partnerships between the university and local communities.
Through collaboration, shared learning, and community service, the initiative seeks to empower students as agents of change and support the development of stronger, more sustainable communities.
